How to Save More Each Month (Video)
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Building up your savings helps you become financially secure. There are many reasons to save money, and if you’re trying to build up your savings, here are a few tips that will help you save up to $200 a month.
- Use your programmable thermostat, especially when you’re gone. Adjusting your thermostat back 10 to 15 degrees for 8 hours a day can save you up to 15 percent on your energy bill. If your bill is $100, you could be putting $15 back in your pocket.
- Make your coffee at home. A cup of joe at your local coffee shop can cost between two and five dollars. If you make coffee at home just two days a week, you could save around $40 a month.
- Bring your lunch to work. Eating out is much more expensive than bringing lunch from home. Each lunch can cost about $10, so two lunches from home a week could save $80 a month.
- Cut the cable. Cable contracts cost an average of $90 a month. If you trade your cable for an alternative service, you can save anywhere from $50 to $80 a month.
Taking these small steps can save big. Plan ahead; put more money in your pocket.
