Becky Fluegge is a resource for more than 125 women business owners in Iowa. As the Director of Programs for the Iowa Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), she serves on several panels discussing financing options, SBA lending and everything in between.

“I think there’s a need for women ownership, and that’s why I’m passionate about NAWBO,” Becky said. “If members have questions about anything finance-related, I like being the resource to guide them to experts within the bank or point them in the right direction.”

Becky also uses her expertise to contribute to the Business section of the Bankers Trust Education Center, where she educates readers on Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and much more.

“The Education Center gives people an opportunity to become familiar with the SBA,” Becky said. “Through this resource, we help eliminate any fear people may have of the loan process. We share our expertise because we want everyone to have the same Bankers Trust experience, regardless of the type of loan or program they choose.”

Becky is also a 25-year veteran in banking with a background in commercial lending. At Bankers Trust, she manages the SBA lending group, and the majority of their customers are small business owners. Her team provides financing to customers that wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else, and SBA loans are their focus.

“We don’t look at SBA loans as being a transaction,” she said. “We look at it as being able to start a relationship with a small business.”

Becky believes the structure of her department makes her team unique because they oversee many types of loans.

“Our structure increases our level of expertise because it allows us to see a variety of loans,” Becky said. “I think it’s unique to other banks where they might have multiple lenders that process a few loans a year, whereas we saw more than 40 loans last year.”

With loan requests from customers and their businesses, Becky believes the relationship she has with her clients is unlike any other bank.

“Many of my customers have also become my friends, and it’s really exciting for me and my team when we can be a part of something that’s changing people’s lives,” she said.
